My name is Marion Freytag and I was born with a paintbrush in my hand. (How exactly this brush got there has not yet been clarified) ;0)
For as long as I can remember, I have been painting out of an inner urge. When I paint, I can immerse myself in my own world, I don't think, I let my feelings and thoughts flow freely. I often process experiences or moods that I cannot or do not want to express in any other way. For me, painting is first and foremost something personal, something I do for myself.
At the same time, I am very happy when my paintings trigger something in others. If they touch people or make them curious, that is a special gift. For me, painting is a process of discovery and expression – always new and always different.
From 1988 to 1990, I completed evening studies at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts.
I have experimented with techniques such as acrylic, oil, watercolor, pastel, chalk, ink and collages. Portraits of people and animals run like a red thread through my artistic work.
Since I was 20 I have been exhibiting my pictures in German cities (e.g. Berlin, Frankfurt am Main, Hamburg, Cologne, Essen) but also abroad (e.g. Denmark, Spain, Switzerland, USA, Grenada-Caribbean, Dubai/VAE and Greece).
I was part of Camel's renowned “Moving Arts” exhibition series and presented my work in major exhibition venues throughout Germany as part of this project. These included locations such as the Kunsthaus Rhenania in Cologne and the Zollverein World Heritage Site in Essen, which provided an impressive architectural and cultural setting for my works.
In April 2025, my paintings were exhibited at ArtExpo New York.
In my work as a freelance graphic designer I was able to use my creative streak for Universal Music for artists such as Gwen Stefani (No Doubt), Mark Knopfler, Nelly Furtado, Zucchero, D12, o-zone or Nirvana.
From 20 November 2025, you can view and purchase more than 20 large-format original works at the Renz&friends gallery in Freiburg, Unterwerkstrasse 9.
I will be there on Fridays from 4 to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. until 20 December.

From 5 to 7 December, three of my works will be exhibited digitally during the Art Basel Miami Art weeks in the art hotspot Wynwood! The most visited art district in the world.
